Dental Implants
Dental implants are a health and long-term solution for damaged, infected, or missing teeth. Whereas dentures or bridges rely on other teeth and gums for support, dental implants are entirely self-supportive. The implant post is surgically inserted into the jaw bone and acts just like a natural tooth root, restoring functionality and strength to your smile. With dental implants, you can enjoy your favorite foods without worrying about removable dentures or uncomfortable oral appliances. Because they fuse to the jaw bone, dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that prevents bone loss by providing stimulation to the bone when chewing. You can receive a single implant to replace one tooth or transform your entire smile with a full mouth of dental implants or an implant-supported denture.
Wisdom Teeth Removal
Many people develop an extra set of molars around the ages of 17–21. These third molars, known as wisdom teeth, can cause a number of oral health problems because there often isn’t enough room for them to erupt. As they try to squeeze in, wisdom teeth can damage adjacent molars and their roots. Impacted wisdom teeth, or those that are partially or fully trapped beneath the gums, can easily cause infections, cysts, or tumors to develop. Our oral surgeons offer many anesthesia options, making your wisdom tooth extraction procedure a calm and comfortable experience. We recommend having wisdom teeth removed as soon as these teeth develop to prevent these complications and more from occurring, but we can safely extract third molars for patients of any age.
Why Choose an Oral Surgeon?
Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are the most qualified health professionals to perform surgery to the mouth, jaws, head, and face. After they complete dental school, oral surgeons must complete an additional 4–6 years of hands-on training in a residency program, where they learn how to administer all forms of anesthesia and care for patients with varying oral health needs. Many dentists can perform simple tooth extractions or minor procedures involving local anesthesia, but when a patient requires more advanced surgery and/or anesthesia, they are referred to an oral surgeon for treatment. In addition to their oral surgery training, every doctor at our practice has also earned a medical degree and maintains board certification, ensuring our patients receive the highest level of care possible.
